Additional Details

The purpose of the project is to address the physical condition of the Route 34 corridor between mile posts (MP) 13.20 and 26.79 and to improve safety for roadway users. The roadway within the project limits was constructed of concrete slabs that have been overlaid with asphalt since original construction in 1930. The concrete slabs are deteriorating, causing cracking of the asphalt and requiring frequent repairs that disrupt traffic.

The proposed project will remove the cracked asphalt and deteriorated concrete and reconstruct the pavement along the Route 34 corridor between MP 13.20 and 26.79. Other improvements include bridge repairs on Route 34 bridges over Willow Brook and Lake Lefferts; bridge replacement of the Route 34 bridges over Yellow Brook and Gravelly Brook; replacement of the Henry Hudson Trail pedestrian bridge over Route 34; traffic signal upgrades; intersection improvements at Morristown Road and Perrine Road; new and reconstructed sidewalks with ADA-compliant curb ramps; new guide rail; and new drainage pipes, inlets, and water basins. The proposed improvements will enhance traffic operations and safety in the project limits and upgrade the roadway to meet current standards.  View additional details.
